Living Skills

Any new students in the following classes need to make an appointment to see Janette Jones for an interview to assist in selecting the right class. The content of the class may change due to the needs of the students. If you would like to get some general education help not listed here, please contact Janette. Phone 6583 7288 to make an appointment. Evening classes are possible if enough students are interested. People can also work one to one with trained volunteers

The Lanaguage, Literacy and Numeracy courses incorporate accredited modules from the Certificate I, II & III in General Education for Adults ( 21770VIC, 21771VIC, 21772VIC, 21774VIC) or the Certificate I, II or III in Spoken and Written English (91421NSW, 91422NSW, 91423NSW )

 

Conversational English - Janette Jones
This class caters for people from non-English speaking backgrounds who have trouble understanding spoken & written English. It has an informal approach and encourages students to understand Australian speech. We also use computers and work- related English. Free for AMES students.

Computer Based English - Janette Jones
This course combines the use of computers with different types of reading and writing. Day to day and work based math will be covered. Students' individual needs and interests will be focused on.

Everyday Reading and Writing - Lyn Freeman
This course will involve reading and writing a variety of different things for everyday use and for work. People can work towards nationally accredited modules at his or her own pace with teacher support.urtificate in G

Work and Life Skills - Janette Jones
This course is designed for people with special needs who want to develop their reading and writing for everyday life and for the workplace. We will also work on basic change calculations, use of the calculator and time.
  Thurs Feb 5, 2009 1pm - 2.30pm $10
Written Work Communications - Lyn Freeman
This course will help you to do all writing related work tasks better. Students will be shown spelling techniques and encouraged to improve writing skills for their present job or for future employment goals. The class numbers are small and individual needs are catered for.
