Student Support

Port Macquarie Community College is able to provide a range of support services to students and referrals to other community support services.
If you think you will have difficulty achieving the outcomes of the course, discuss this with your tutor or the Executive Officer. It is best if this can be done prior to commencing the class or as early as possible once the class commences so your needs can be assessed and accommodated if possible.

PMCC offers specialised support in the areas of Language, Literacy and Numeracy tutors and courses.

If your tutor is aware of your special learning needs then he/she is able to make reasonable adjustment to the delivery of the course. For example, handouts can be provided in larger print, seating can be adjusted to assist with hearing and vision needs, classrooms can be allocated to assist with access.

Assessment

For all VET accredited courses students are required to meet the competency standards and will be assessed using a range of methods such as research assignments, case studies, tests, simulations and group projects. Information about your assessment requirements will be provided by the tutor in your first class.

Courses may be delivered in a variety of methods such as classroom, in the workplace or in a form of blended learning which combines face to face teaching with self-paced study, home study or on-line delivery.

Students have the right to one re-assessment if the competency is not achieved first time. If you are not happy with an assessment outcome you have the right to appeal through the Appeals Process.
